June 16th, 2008Awesome Storms
So far this Spring we have had some really cool storms. Nothing really severe, which are much more fun than your regular storms, but still great ones none the less.
What I’ve noticed with most of the storms we’ve had so far, is the lightning has been the most prominent feature of the storms. I’m a bit of a weather nerd, and I love photography, so I can get the best of both worlds when I get a great photo of lightning or cloud formations. I have two really awesome examples which I’m very proud of that I have here to post on my blog.
The first is a picture of some lightning. There was no rain from this storm, as the storm didn’t come over me, but went over Toronto and the lake, so the lightning was in the distance, which allowed for perfect picture taking of lightning. If you look closely, you’ll see the CN Tower is being hit by it. This was on June 5th, 2008.

Next is a storm on June 15th, 2008. There were actually 7 separate storms that day, which is just crazy. There was two severe ones, and the others were fairly short, but still all had very heavy rain. This photo is of the second severe storm, in which winds reached almost 100 kph. The clouds were unlike anything I’d ever seen. The only time I’ve ever seen clouds like this is on TV, or photos of big storms you see in places like Kansas. It was very ominous and awesome to see. The clouds were moving very fast too. This is actually a photo stitch using Windows Live Photo Gallery. It does it so well and so easily.

That’s a great pic! The weather in London hasn’t been too too bad and I must say that I’m a tad disappointed that we haven’t had more severe storms. We did have a tornado in Arva (?) a few kms noth of the city, but it’s only farms up there. It’s not that I want destruction, but it would be cool to see in person, you know?
Here’s to severe weather!
