While I was in the grocery store yesterday picking up a few things, I was chatting on the phone with a friend. I was in the cereal aisle talking about our favourite cereals. He mentioned his favourite cereal is Count Chocula. I mentioned that it’s too bad he can’t try my favourite cereal, Cocoa Krispies. It’s a USA only cereal you see. We used to have it in Canada when I was a kid, which is how I learned how great it is. Then I got a box of it in Pittsburgh back in 2001, and then an online friend sent me a box last Fall.
While I was expressing my disappointment I literally glanced at the Rice Krispies in front of me and noticed the word Cocoa on the box. I had to stop and look again for a couple of seconds to really make sure I was seeing what I thought I was seeing. Oh my god! They’re back! They’re called Rice Krispies Cocoa. I had a bowl this morning. So freakin good. I’m so glad it’s back, and I hope it’s not temporary this time. I could live on the stuff! Maybe I should stockpile it just incase it disappears again… although at $4.99 a box, that could be pricey.
I love pastries. I think it’s the French in me. I got my Kraft “What’s Cooking” magazine in the mail the other day, and I knew when I saw the recipe for these, I just had to make them.
The recipe is really simple, and the result is amazing. These taste unbelievable! The crispy pastry, the creamy filling, the drizzled chocolate. Yummy! Not only that but they take less than an hour to make, including preparation and refrigerating time. They are kind of messy to eat though. When you’re eating them, the filling kind of falls out if there is too much inside.
Here’s the recipe.
So I’ve been on some sort of baking binge lately. I baked some Peanut Butter Chocolate cookies that I found online. They are so good. I rolled them in sugar like the recipe suggests, but I think they’re a bit too sweet rolled in the sugar. I wouldn’t do that next time. Also the chocolate rosebuds don’t stick very well. They fall off when you’re eating them. I’ve had a couple fall on the floor. It’s almost like the equivalent of dropping your ice cream off of the cone.

I also used some of the money I got for Khristmas, and got a Waffle Maker. WOW! I’m so glad I did this. The waffles are amazing. It cooks them perfectly. Nice and crispy on the outside, and light and fluffy inside. There is so much you can do with them too. You can have them for breakfast, or as a dessert. They’re huge though. One fills me right up, sometimes one is too much. I want to try making some with blueberries.
